Building A Nest

I don’t do nearly enough homeschooling posts.

On that note, we tried building a nest this week.  A nest.

For birds.

Not as easy as you might think!  My girls learned quickly that they would not make great birds.  They can’t build a brilliant nest.

{That… and they can’t fly… weird!}

Their science book [...]

New Beginnings

Why does the title look misspelled?  Beginnings… hmm, I guess that’s right.  Spell check knows all.

K was invited to New Beginnings at church.

NEW BEGINNINGS!!  Do you know what this means?  I’m OLD!  It also means that K will be 12 this year and entering Young Women’s.

So weird.  (I swear I [...]

He’s Here!! (Part 2)

…My SIL texted back saying she was so excited.

I woke Anthony up for good around 5:30 to let him know he would need to find a replacement to speak for him in the other ward.

At 6:22 am I texted my SIL again letting her know that the contractions were getting much closer [...]

Halloween

This year when we asked the kids what they wanted to be for Halloween, C was the only one that said something and stuck to it.

Santa Claus!!

Of course, we got to choose for B since he’s too young to really understand what it’s all about.  We used an idea we had seen [...]

Pictures, Marathon, Friends…WOW!

**WARNING:  High volume of pictures… and a video… but first there’s a whole lot of babbling!  Warned again.

It was one of those weekends!  Jam-packed and so much fun… yet so much drama!

First off, I took the kids to get their pictures taken.  My mother-in-law had given each grandchild $50 for the [...]

How Do YOU Socialize Your Children?

I am often asked how we socialize our kids because apparently, being homeschoolers means we’re unsocialized, unkempt (well, sometimes), and we live in a bubble. A bubble which no one is allowed to enter.

Because my kids aren’t involved in any extracurricular activities or anything {dance}. We don’t go to church every Sunday {this [...]

Naming Children

Remember when you were little, playing with your dolls, and you would think of the best, most beautiful, awesomest {it’s a word now, just ask me}, glorious name you had ever heard in your life to name your dolls? Or better yet, you even got to be the one with that name. Playing house was [...]

16 Down, 34 To Go… {50 State Project}

Over the summer, my girls and I decided we needed a project. And by ‘we’ I really mean, ‘I’.

We decided to try and get a postcard from every state in the U.S. Since we are studying U.S. History this year in our homeschool, it’s a perfect fit! The problem is that we [...]
